The Drug Squad over the past week questioned 29 people over drugs, the Police said today.

The first four were questioned after the police received reports of drug trafficking in Hamrun last Sunday. Those questioned included the alleged trafficker, a 23-year-old man, found in possession of packets of heroin and cocaine which were about to be sold.

Later on Sunday, in Sta Lucia, Mobile Squad police arrested two men from Naxxar who were found to be taking drugs. Investigations then led to the drug trafficker.

On Sunday-Monday night, 17 were arrested during a party near Rabat. They included 14 men and three women. One of the men was Spanish. Ecstasy, cocaine and cannabis was found in their possession.

Other Drug Squad operations were conducted during the week in Zebbug, Marsaxlokk, Floriana, Paceville and Tarxien, as a result of which more arrests were made, including an Algerian and an Indian.
