GWU leaders meet MEPs

MEPs today called for a structure to facilitate their dialogue with the social partners during a meeting with the GWU leadership.

The meeting was attended by all the MEPs except Simon Busuttil, who was unavoidably absent.

GWU General Secretary Tony Zarb in greeting the MEPs, renewed the GWU's call for a social Europe.

"We have to have a Europe for the people, not people for Europe," Mr Zarb said.

The MEPs expressed the need for a structured dialogue with the social partners in the same way as the existing mechanism for talks with the national parliament and MEUSAC.
