Pre-emption, prevention and contamination risks

My letter Receiving Holy Communion (May 17) brought absolutely no comment from the Curia. Cross contamination from spittle is the order of the day. Scruples are not dogma.

Where is the brotherly love as preached by Jesus? I cannot comprehend why the aged monsignors that form the Curia are so out of date with modern trends. In America and other countries, Holy Communion is only given on hands.

In my letter quoted above, I tried to be positive and made some suggestions. The Curia should face up to its responsibilities. This is no longer a hypothetical supposition. Malta has now also been contaminated by swine flu. What is the Curia waiting for, a pandemic together with some deaths? There are such things as pre-emption and prevention.

No one should be stubborn. Stubbornness is a grave sin, even more so when it would result from the religious leaders of the island.

Why should the faithful be faced with a Hobson's choice, namely, either desist from receiving Holy Communion or alternatively risk cross contamination?

I earnestly beg and beseech the Curia to listen and comment on the dangers involved.
