Supporting Sheffield United’s forthcoming pre-season tour of Malta between July 6 and 10, the Blades will be organising a giant 26ft X 13ft flag to travel across with the first team.
The ‘friendship flag’ will be on display throughout the host of activities staged on the island. The Maltese will be invited to sign the flag that will be returning to Bramall Lane and proudly displayed at Sheffield United home games throughout next season. A number of notable Maltese personalities are expected to sign the flag.
Sheffield United chief executive Jason Rockett explained: “The flag is a symbol of our Malta partnership, with many people from the country invited to sign the flag. We will unveil it at the first home game of the season.”
The Blades flag will be making its first public appearance in front of the law courts in Republic street, Valletta on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Additional events where the flag will be on parade include:
* The Malta Junior Blades Charity Evening at the Splash and Fun Water Park on Monday;
* The Blades summer training camp at the Hibernians Stadium that will be open to the public early morning today week;
* A charity evening today week attended by the Sheffield United first team squad, hosted at the Excelsior Yacht Club; and
* The Blades pre-season friendly against Premier League club Floriana, staged at the ground of Hibernians FC on July 10.
Sheffield United will also be handing out a limited number of ‘Blades on Tour’ t-shirts at all the events.
