Vodafone reduces voice, SMS and data tariffs

Vodafone Malta has reduced its voice, SMS and data rates for roaming in EU countries for all its pay-monthly and prepaid customers.

Furthermore, the rating structure has been simplified to make it easier for customers to better understand what their rates are when abroad.

Making a call to any EU destination while roaming on any network in the EU now costs only €0.50 per minute, which is charged on a per-second basis after the first 30 seconds. Having the same rate in any EU country makes it easier and simpler to remember your rate when abroad. SMS rates have also been greatly reduced by over 60 per cent. In fact all SMSs made while roaming in any EU member state will now cost only €0.13.

Furthermore, Vodafone pay-monthly customers can continue to benefit from even cheaper rates with Vodafone Passport. Customers registering to Vodafone Passport can call back home or the visited country at €0.23 per minute plus a set-up charge per call. For example, making a call while roaming on any EU Passport Network (e.g. Vodafone Italy) will cost €0.23 per minute + €1 set-up charge. Receiving a call on any EU Vodafone Passport Network costs only €0.70 for every 10 minutes. Vodafone is also reducing the rates for data roaming. Data rates for prepaid customers start at €0.05 per 10Kb while rates for pay-monthly customers start from as little as €0.03 per 10Kb.

"Our customers have been benefiting from reduced roaming prices since 2005 when we introduced Vodafone Passport for the first time in the Maltese market. This was followed by other reductions in April 2007 and the introduction of the Vodafone Euro Tariff in August 2007. More reductions in August 2008 went beyond the EU requirements, which are targeted to give more value to our customers when roaming abroad," said Michael Darmanin, head of marketing at Vodafone Malta.
