Mourinho now eyeing Cissokho
Inter coach Jose Mourinho has turned his attention on Porto full-back Aly Cissokho whose move to Milan broke down last month.
According to L'Equipe, Mourinho wants more cover on the left-back position with Maxwell likely to leave the San Siro this summer.
Cissokho was about to be unveiled as a new Milan player two weeks ago but he failed a medical.
Milan's doctors believed Cissokho's dental health was indicative of a hernia, which could rule him out for large spells next season.
Cissokho first came to fame in the Champions League last season when he kept Cristiano Ronaldo under tight scrutiny at Old Trafford.
Saints move not on the cards - Reid
Former England midfielder Peter Reid has rejected speculation he will quit as coach of Thailand to take charge of Southampton.
The former Manchester City, Leeds and Sunderland boss, who played for Southampton in the 1993-94 season, is under contract until 2012 with Thailand, which is his first national team job.
With only two defeats in 13 competitive games in charge, Reid has been a big hit with Thai fans, players and the media and says he is in no rush to return to England.
"I know nothing about the reports, they were just speculation from England," Reid was quoted as saying.
"I'm happy to remain head coach of the Thai national team."
Coach quits team over death threats
Santa Fe coach Ruben Israel resigned and left Colombia yesterday after being threatened with death if he did not keep a particular player in his squad.
The 51-year-old Uruguayan said he had received calls on his mobile from a man claiming to be a member of hardcore Santa Fe fans.
"The man said to me 'I'm simply making it clear to you that if Najera is not in the squad we're going to blow you and your family away'," Israel told reporters minutes before leaving the country.
Israel had yet to take charge of a Santa Fe match, having only signed at the end of May.
Stoichkov named Sundowns coach
Former European Footballer of the Year Hristo Stoichkov, 43, has been named coach of South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns.
Bulgarian Stoichkov has signed a two-year deal at the Pretoria-based club, whose billionaire mining magnate owner Patrice Motsepe went through three coaches last season.
Stoichkov followed former France manager Henri Michel into the hot seat. Michel spent six months with the Sundowns last season but was fired after they failed to climb the South African Premier League standings.
Stoichkov's coaching career has not been successful with a three-year spell in charge of Bulgaria culminating in failure to reach the 2006 World Cup.
Teams lining up for Gudjohnsen
Three clubs, all from the English Premiership, are lining up to snap the signature of Eidur Gudjohnsen. The striker's father and agent, Arnor, told reporters his son will leave Barcelona.
"I think that Eidur will leave Barcelona, but I am not sure where he will end up playing next," Arnor Gudjohnsen said.
"There are many possibilities open to him and apart from Aston Villa, Fulham and Everton, there are also clubs that want him."
The 30-year-old has previously hinted at an interest in joining former Chelsea team-mate Gianfranco Zola at West Ham, but an official approach has not yet been made by the Hammers.
Wolves pay £6.5m for striker Doyle
Wolves completed the signing of Kevin Doyle, the sought-after striker who played for Reading last season.
The newly-promoted Premier League club paid a club record £6.5 million for the Ireland international, beating off competition from other top-flight clubs to recruit the 25-year-old.
Doyle scored 55 goals in 163 games for Reading since his move from Cork in 2005.
"Wolves were the first club that actually came in and settled things with Reading and so they were the first club I spoke to," Doyle told the club's website.
"I was expecting a long summer but Wolves were in straight away. I'm sad to be leaving Reading but I'm going with their blessing as well which is nice. This is a fresh start."
Blackburn sign Dane Jacobsen
Danish international right-back Lars Jacobsen signed for Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old - capped over 20 times by the national side since making his debut in 2006 - signed a two-year contract with Rovers after not having his previous contract renewed with FA Cup finalists Everton.
Jacobsen, who will be a direct replacement for Dutch veteran Andre Ooijer after he left for PSV this summer, barely played for Everton as he was suffering from a shoulder injury but came on as a substitute in their FA Cup final defeat by Chelsea.
He has also had spells with Hamburg and Nuremberg but only stayed at each club for a season apiece.
