Maltese shooter William Chetcuti won silver in double trap today in the Mediterranean Games being held in Pescara. Gold was won by Italian shooter Daniele DiSpigno.

In qualifying, DiSpigno reached a new record with an overall score of 145 points and ended with 190 points after the barrage, just one point ahead of Chetcuti. The Maltese hit 49 out of 50 in the barrage. He had 140 points in qualifying.

Bronze was won by Italian shooter Francesco D'Aniello with 180 points.

Parliamentary Secretary Clyde Puli phoned Chetcuti to congratulate him. He was also congratulated by the Nationalist Party.
