Woman accused of attempted murder

Nathalie Micallef, 29, a mother of three, was today accused of the attempted murder of Brian Pace, who was stabbed in the stomach in a home in Swatar last night. She pleaded not guilty.

The incident happened at around 11 p.m. Inspector Chris Pullicino told the court that the couple had been living together and had an on-off relationship.

The inspector said that Nathalie Micallef had accompanied the victim to hospital. Up until this afternoon he was still in intensive care battling for his life.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano refused bail due to the seriousness of the charges. Following an appeal by the court, the inspector said he would accompany Ms Micallef home to make arrangement for the care of the children before she was taken to prison.
