Prospective students and the public will have the opportunity to visit the studios where the School of Art holds its various art courses during an Open Day on Sunday.
Courses offered by the School of Art include drawing and painting, life classes, 3D work in plasticine, plaster and clay (including mould making), sculpture in wood and stone, artistic print making, gold and silver-smithing and gilding.
Artistic creativity courses are held in the morning.
The public will also have the opportunity to view an exhibition of works by a group of post-diploma students, namely, Carol Xuereb, Emily Engerer, Sue Flask, Karen Caruana, Lewis Zammit and Martin Bezzina Wettinger.
Sculptor Joseph Casha will be mounting an exhibition of 40 miniature sculptures in terracotta entitled Small Is Beautiful celebrating 50 years in sculpture.
On display will also be works by pre-1950 students who are now appreciated by Maltese art connoisseurs.
For the third year, the school council will be holding art courses in summer at the School of Art. The courses will consist of 15 lessons, two lessons per week on Tuesday and Thursday during July, August and September, either in the morning, from 9 to 11.30, or in the evening, from 5 to 7.30.
Those interested can apply during the Open Day on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Monday and on July 7 from 5 to 7.30 p.m.
