Misiones de Rengo wine recommended by US magazine

The latest edition of the American magazine Wine Spectator has recommended Misiones de Rengo Reserva Carmenere 2007.

The wine was evaluated and recommended through James Molesworth, who is the senior editor for New York and taster for the wines of Argentina, Chile, Loire Valley, Rhone Valley and South Africa.

Misiones de Rengo is imported and distributed in Malta by P. Cutajar & Co Ltd and will be available for tasting at the company’s upcoming edition of the Wine Experience on July 13 and 14 at Razzett l-Abjad.

The wine was described as “tasty, with coffee and tobacco weaving through the medium-weight blackberry and raspberry fruit. Lingering hints of spice and loam check in on the fleshy finish. Solid length. Drink now through 2011.” It was tasted twice with consistent notes.

Each year, Wine Spectator editors survey wines reviewed over the past year and select the most exciting for a Top 100 list.

In 2008, the magazine reviewed more than 19,500 wines from around the world in blind tastings.

Outstanding ratings are further narrowed down based on four criteria: quality, value; availability and an X-factor the Wine Spectator calls excitement.

The 2008 list represents 14 countries - the most diverse group in the history of the its top 100.

Misiones de Rengo is one of the most outstanding successes in the Chilean wine industry and extends its roots deep into Chile’s Rapel Valley.

Since its release on the market in 2001, it has won over specialist, enthusiasts and wine consumers, due to its excellent relation between price and quality and attractive presentation.
