Coupet: Former France goalkeeper Gregory Coupet joined Paris SG from Atletico Madrid yesterday. The 36-year-old signed a two-year contract with PSG. Coupet won seven French titles with Lyon before leaving last year for Atletico where he failed to win a regular place.

Bordeaux: French champions Girondins Bordeaux have signed goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso from Toulouse. The 27-year-old Carrasso is France's third choice goalkeeper but has yet to win his first cap for Les Bleus.

Leeds: Warren Feeney is on the verge of joining Leeds from Cardiff City. The 28-year-old striker from Belfast had been with Dundee United on loan last season. "Cardiff have given permission for another club to sign me. Leeds are a massive club and I am excited," said Feeney.

Alexander: Graham Alexander, the 37-year-old Burnley defender, has extended his stay at the Premier League newcomers with another year. The Scot was an influential figure last season as the club secured promotion via the play-offs. Alexander played 61 games for Burnley last season, culminating in the play-off final victory against Sheffield United at Wembley. Burnley open their campaign on August 15 against Stoke.

Erding: Turkey striker Mevlut Erding is poised to join Paris St Germain from Ligue 1 rivals Sochaux after both clubs reached an agreement. Several French clubs had made offers for the 22-year-old Erding who scored 11 league goals last season. The transfer fee was expected to be between eight and €10 million, according to French media reports.

Golf: Greg Norman has committed to play in the next three Australian Opens, starting with this year's event at the NSW Golf Club. Norman, 54, will make his return at the coastal New South Wales course from December 3-6, three years after he last played in the tournament. The former world no.1, who now plays part-time but enjoyed a resurgence after finishing equal third in last year's British Open, is a five-time winner of his national Open.

Motor sport: Former world ski champion Luc Alphand has been seriously injured in a crash during a motorcycle rally in France. The 43-year-old Frenchman sustained injuries to his spine while competing in the Rand'Auvergne rally in central France on Sunday and will need to undergo an operation in Clermont Ferrand. Alphand was the overall ski World Cup winner in 1997 and he converted to rallying after he retired from the slopes winning the Dakar Rally in 2006.

Tennis: Lindsay Davenport, 33, has given birth to a baby girl on Sunday, her agent said. Davenport, three times a grand slam champion, returned to the competitive action just three months after the birth of her son Jagger in June 2007. On that occasion she won three of her first four tournaments following her maternity leave. She has not indicated if she plans to make a comeback after the birth of her second child.

Rugby Union: South Africa flanker Schalk Burger was ruled out for eight weeks after being found guilty of gouging the eyes of British and Irish Lions winger Luke Fitzgerald during the second test. Also, South Africa lock Bakkies Botha was banned for two weeks for a dangerous tackle on Lions prop Adam Jones during the second test. Jones suffered a dislocated shoulder following the tackle by Botha, who helped the Springboks clinch the series 2-0.
