A great spiritual leader for our times

On June 22 I had the good fortune of attending the Pontifical Mass at the Ta' Pinu Sanctuary to commemorate the 126th anni-versary of Our Lady's Calling to Karmni Grima and Franġisk Portelli. The celebrant was Gozo Bishop Mario Grech.

I paid very close attention to what Mgr Grech was saying in his homily and realised more than ever what a truly wonderful bishop he is. He not only speaks with profound spiritual authority but I am convinced that his speeches are full of divine inspiration.

In these somewhat exciting times, when one has to prove and defend one's religious beliefs, Mgr Grech has all the qualities of a great spiritual leader.

He is a powerful light all Christians should follow. In modern terminology he is not only an "energy saver", he is also an "energy giver".

May I take this opportunity to thank also Fr Gerard Buhagiar, rector of the Ta' Pinu Sanctuary and Fr Michael Galea the former rector and all those who, were involved in organising the celebrations of the 126th anniversary, because the whole programme was so enjoyable and a great success.
