Architect asks police to probe environmentalist
Architect Robert Musumeci has asked the police to investigate environmentalist Astrid Vella over her allegations about him in a comment posted on timesofmalta.com.
Her comments were posted last Thursday under an article titled NGOs Point Guns At Architect Behind Baħrija Project.
He filed a libel suit on Tuesday against Ms Vella over the same comments.
In a letter sent through lawyers José Herrera and Veronique Dalli, Mr Musumeci has now asked the police to investigate the case and stop Ms Vella from writing libellous things in his regard.
A planning authority permit for the building of a house in Baħrija belonging to Nationalist Party president Victor Scerri has sparked off a controversy. Mr Musumeci is the architect.
In a press conference last week, environmental groups said Mr Musumeci, who also happens to be the PN mayor in Siġġiewi, had a history of obtaining permits even when there were serious objections by planning officials.
The development in Baħrija has been temporarily halted by Dr Scerri while he awaits the outcome of police and Mepa investigations which he himself requested.

@ Joseph Saliba: so why don't you tell your colleague Musumeci to invite Astrid to qualify her statement, since that is all that's lacking. I'm sure she will not disappoint him ....or us!

Could Musumeci please let us all know what we are allowed to say on the internet as he has put himself in the position of the guardian of free speech.

In civilised countries like ours any damaging statement, if unqualified, is labelled criminal. Criminality has nothing to do with freedom of expression.

Between this article and the one in regards to the priest "fired" as chairman, I'm starting to think we should have joined Iran and not the EU.
What's next? Thought control?
People are dying for Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press elsewhere in the world and someone asks the police to investigate in regards to a blog. What a waste of time! What are they going to do? Confiscate Astrid's laptop? cut her hands off like they do in certain countries?
By these actions Astrid is becoming a martyr and her actions and words are being validated. Prosit Astrid, the rat is most dangerous when cornered! Keep up the good work. History has shown that many progressive thinkers were crucified by the regime including the Lord Himself!

It would be more interesting if the Police will start probing this particular case as to how and why this permit was granted? It makes a lot mpre sense for us the ordinary people who voted this particular government in power!
