Group of nine for Austria challenge

A group of nine triathletes will form part of the Interwetten Team for the Austria Ironman next month.

The group, which has been preparing for the race for over six months now, includes national champions Danica Spiteri, Fabio Spiteri and Dermot Galea.

They will be on the starting line for the demanding race which sees participants involved in a 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and a 42km run.

The Interwetten Team's participation has a two-fold purpose.

In fact, apart from trying to complete the challenging distance, they will also look to raise funds for the Inspire sports programme at Eden and Razzett Foundation.

Nathan Farrugia, Inspire CEO, will also form part of the Maltese team.

Interwetten, Hertz (Malta) and Kunsill Malti għall-Isport are the main backers of the team's initiative.

Other sponsors include Maxim, Urban Jungle and EnjoyTheRun.com who have contributed with equipment and nutritional support.

The main donation site is www.simplygiving.org.mt/ironmanmaltateam.
