During 2007 and 2008 the government reaped €6.9 million and €6.1 million respectively in gaming tax on machines in the four casinos licensed by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority.

There was also revenue of €2.36 million and €2.518 million in the respective years from company tax, profits tax and social security contributions. The casinos currently employ a total of 719 persons.

The information was given by Finance Minister Tonio Fenech in reply to a parliamentary question by Ms Helena Dalli (PL).
