DHL Cold Chain is today expected to sign a partnership agreement with Express Trailers in Malta to offer a new service aimed at enabling the Maltese pharmaceutical industry reach European destinations.

DHL Cold Chain caters for the life science and pharmaceutical industry, and offers a European-wide ground transport service for temperature sensitive products. Contacted by The Times Business, a spokesperson for the Maltese-owned Express Trailers said that the company has evolved into one which offers a tailored-made service for transporting life science and healthcare products. The company, he said, offers a fully monitored, temperature-controlled network, meeting requirements in terms of regulations, security, quality and handling.

The spokesman confirmed Express Trailers is in talks with DHL Cold Chain and said the company has invested around €250,000 in order to provide this new service which included the purchase of reefer (refrigerator) trailers and the necessary IT infrastructure.

Malta's pharmaceutical industry is fast growing and has been helped by the fact that the country is an EU member state with direct access to markets in Europe and North Africa.

DHL Cold Chain's credentials in the highly regulated life sciences and healthcare sector are well established and its customers include major pharmaceutical manufacturers and wholesalers, drug store groups, medical device manufacturers, health authorities, hospitals, health centres and hospital supply companies.
