Keith Vella, 20 of Senglea today pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Amadeo Brincat of Cospicua in a big fight at Senglea Point last Friday night.
Mr Vella was the second man to be charged in connection with the fight.
He also denied threatening Mr Brincat, breaching the peace, swearing in public and violating the conditions of a previous release.
Police Inspector Jesmond Borg, prosecuting, said Mr Vella used to go out with a girl but then she started going out with somebody else. Angry at what had happened, Mr Vella allegedly had a fight with Mr Brincat which escalated into a massive brawl between their friends.
Magistrate Edwina Grima granted Mr Vella bail against a deposit of €1,000 and a personal guarantee of €10,000. She also banned him from going to the Senglea Regatta Club for fear of tampering with evidence.
