Magistrate Silvio Meli has been elected an executive member of the Association of European Competition Law Judges.

His appointment was made in Rome during the association's eighth annual conference.

This year's conference focused on issues relating to intellectual property. The speakers included the president of the Italian Supreme Court Vincenzo Carbone and former Prime Minister Guiliano Amato.

Magistrate Meli is the president of the National Fair Trade Commission and author of the book Judgements of the Malta Commission for Fair Trading.

He is also a member of the Competition Law Forum of the British Institute of International Comparative Law.
