England U-21 coach Stuart Pearce has admitted his reshuffled side have "given him something to think about" after they drew 1-1 with Germany on Monday night.

Pearce made 10 changes to the team that defeated Spain 2-0 last week but still managed to grab the point needed to secure top spot in Group B on seven points, two ahead of the Germans.

Despite going 1-0 down against the Germans, England hit back through Jack Rodwell and the Young Lions impressed throughout the remainder of the encounter.

"I am not so sure the team selection was a gamble or it paid off," Pearce said.

"I had trust in the players and bear in mind that I have worked with them for the last three weeks.

"I have seen the ability shining through in the Rodwells and the Stearmans. They've really given me something to think about.

"We got no new injuries. We have got a good spirit. We won the group and we are going to work hard to try and win the semi-final.

"Time will tell. If we don't focus game-to-game we will go home."

Yesterday's Group A results: Belarus vs Italy 1-2; Serbia vs Sweden 1-3.

Semi-finals - (Friday)
18.00 England vs Sweden; 20.45 Germany vs Italy.
