Two hooded men made off with up to €8,000 in cash when they held up a businessman in Marsa late yesterday, the police said.

The businessman, a 45-year-old from Pieta', had just closed his business and was in his car in Racecourse Street, Marsa, when he was held up by the two men, brandishing what appeared to be a firearm.

He handed over cash which the police said did not exceed €8,000.

No one was injured.

The incident happened at about 10.20 p.m.

Magistrate Anthony Vella is holding an inquiry.
