Republic Square in Valletta, or, as it is better known, Queen's Square, is finally taking on an organised appearance thanks to an arrangement reached between the Lands Department and the various cafes which put up tables on the historic square.

The number of tables had now been reduced, and a wide passage has been opened up in front of and behind the statue of Queen Victoria, which had previously been practically hidden behind a forest of sun shades.

The new arrangements came into force this morning.
