In a weekend of history-making, Ikocasa created a slice of P1 history themselves yesterday to become the first all-female team to win a race in the P1 World Championship.

The crew of Shelley Jory and Audrien Ciantar had crossed the line in second position at the inaugural Turkey GP, but were handed the race victory after a one-minute time penalty was placed upon Seagull Chaudron for over-speeding.

Ikocasa had qualified for the Sprint race fourth fastest following Friday's PowerPole but soon moved past Baia Attolini into the podium spots.

When early leaders Team SW1 Capital retired on the third lap with a broken prop shaft, an interesting battle, involving Ciantar siblings Audrien and Aaron, ensued.

The SuperSport world champions of Angelo Tedeschi and Aaron Ciantar, in the Seagull, kept its fellow Chaudron at bay for the remaining seven laps, but were adjudged to have oversped for 11 seconds on the ninth and final lap.

The penalty meant that Baia Attolini were awarded second place while the Belgian MasForce boat achieved their first podium of the 2009 season.

An elated Jory said: "It is a wonderful feeling to make history as the first all-girl team to win a race. I don't think any woman has ever got to this high level in motorsports, so it has been an amazing day."

Seagull Chaudron's time penalty dropped them to fourth, ahead of Blue Shaft.

Despite the ruling, Seagull (263 points) maintain a slender 10-point lead over Baia Attolini at the top of the SuperSport standings. Ikocasa move into third with 247 points.

The fourth round of the championship, an endurance race, will be held this afternoon.
