Young Sliema clarinettist wins trophy

This year's edition of the 'Mro Cardenio Botti' trophy for the best musician, organised annually by the 'Sliema' Band, has been awarded to the young clarinettist Gabriel Agius.

The presentation of this trophy was made by Maryann Kissaun, niece of the late Mro Cardenio Botti, during a ceremony at the Society's Culture Performance Hall marking the society's foundation. Mro Botti left a legacy of musical works and had a leading role in the foundation of the Sliema Band in 1923.

Gabriel Agius is 14 years old and has already distinguished himself by placing first in the national examination in musical practice organised by the Malta Band Clubs Association.
