Barely six months after opening its luxury boutique at Portomaso, Diamonds International has inaugurated its sixth outlet at the newly refurbished Departures Lounge at Malta International Airport.

"Under the direction of a team of Italian designers, this new boutique offers the same decor as that of our flagship store at Portomaso," said Karl Micallef, director of Diamonds International.

The new outlet offers the same selection of fine brands of jewellery and watches by Cartier, Mont Blanc, Omega, Mikimoto, Damiani and many more.

Mr Micallef said the new outlet was the natural next step forward. "Our jewels are not only seen as a symbol of wealth but have become representative of our clients' taste and style."

He added that the company was well established locally and "today our standards achieved are in line with major cities around the world. Therefore, we feel that the next step for Diamonds International is to grow within the tourism segment".

Until 2008 the company's focus was purely on developing the local market. The next step was the growing tourism market. Hence, the new outlet completes the circuit.

"The local market will remain the company's core target audience. In fact, the new boutique will also be dealing with countless Maltese passengers passing through departures," Mr Micallef said.

This new development comes at a time when Diamonds International is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary as well as 85 years of Damiani, one of the group's iconic brands.

Besides hosting a 10-day extravaganza at the group's outlet in Portomaso, which will see the outlet being transformed into a Damiani boutique, Diamonds International will also be hosting in Malta Silvia Damiani, vice-president of the Damiani Group.
