The Agrarian Society this evening held the tradition announcement of the Mnarja equine races, known as the Bandu, in the old streets of Mdina and Rabat.

The palji, or winners' banners, were carried from the Mdina council offices in a defile of horses, ponies and donkeys.

The bandu was read along various parts of the route as the defile proceeded out of Mdina through Greeks' Gate towards St Paul Square and San Katald Chapel in Rabat before stopping opposite the Shrine of St Paul in Saqqajja Square, where the palji were blessed.
