Dictionary of over 3,500 biographies of Maltese personalities

Over 3,500 biographies of Maltese personalities of the 15th century and even before are compiled in two volumes titled Dictionary of Maltese Biographies.

The dictionary includes all the entries of the 1997 edition, (edited by Michael J. Schiavone and Louis J. Scerri), which were updated and, where necessary, corrected. It also includes ancillary publications or works as well as bibliographies, some of them accompanied by pictures.

Spread over 1,800 pages are the names and details of Maltese personalities who made important contributions to the Maltese islands. Although some of the names are fairly well known, many others are less known and in some cases, at least, readers may be astonished to hear of their contributions and achievements both in Malta and abroad.

The biographies were written by Mr Schiavone and the jacket is designed by artist Luciano Micallef.

Mr Schiavone will be present for book signing on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Media Link shop, Pietà, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and at Eurotours office in Victoria on Friday between 4 and 6 p.m. and on Saturday between 10 a.m. and noon.

The new publication by Pubblikazzjonijiet Indipendenza - PIN, will be available from Tuesday. Subscribers can collect the two volumes from Media.Link, Triq Herbert Ganado, Pietà.
