iPhone, iPod security flaws get 45 patches

Apple Inc released 45 software patches on Wednesday to address security vulnerabilities in its popular iPhone and iPod Touch mobile devices.

The company said in a security bulletin that they were included as part of its iPhone 3.0 operating system, which it previously announced would be released on Wednesday.

Apple has a stellar reputation when it comes to securing its devices, so it is surprising the company issued so many patches at once.

The security bulletin said the patches address multiple vulnerabilities in the software that runs iPhones and iPod Touch devices.

It was not immediately clear whether hackers had written malicious programs to exploit them.
