Woman critical after collision
A 22-year-old female driver from Żurrieq is in critical condition after she was involved in a head-on collision in Safi, yesterday.
The other car, a Renault Megane, was being driven by a 48-year-old woman from Safi, who was slightly injured, the police said. The accident took place at about 4.45 p.m. in Triq il-Karwija. Both women had to be taken out of the cars by members of the Civil Protection Department and were taken to hospital.

Please appreciate that your bright idea of getting the summary of the driver personal calls will not lead to anything as in this day and age there exist hands free devices that are not at all illegal!
With all your observations you know nothing about the accident, the same as I don't, so you are wrong in saying "It would be easy to check the company phone records to see if one or both these drivers were using their phone at the time. This is done in the UK etc., to determine the cause of the accident" as there could be a million causes to the accident and not just the mobile phone factor!
And finally...what if she was on a call a minute earlier before driving her car?

You are the one jumping to conclusions - I say very clearly "We do not know the circumstances that caused the collision, but it could be inattention due to mobile phone use?" So are you saying I am definitely wrong and you have some information to back this up. or is it just that you are annoyed anyone could think such a thing.
Well one day - you, or any one of us, may the victim of someone's inattention because of a mobile phone being used while driving - so get used to it, because it is not a rare event.

Looking at the photo, this appears to be a straight section of road, where this accident happened, and in good conditions. I hope those injured recover quickly, from this 'odd accident'.
We do not know the circumstances that caused the collision, but it could be inattention due to mobile phone use? It would be easy to check the company phone records to see if one or both these drivers were using their phone at the time. This is done in the UK etc., to determine the cause of the accident, since using a phone while driving is illegal in the UK and also Malta.
I see many drivers using their phones while driving in Malta - this needs to stop, or we will have many more of these 'odd accidents'.
