MDU president reappointed

Joe Saliba has been reappointed president of the Malta Dockers Union.

Mr Saliba resigned last week,18 months before the end of his term, to disprove claims that he was stuck to power.

All licensed port workers who were union members were given the opportunity to submit their nomination for the post but no names were forthcoming by yesterday at 5 p.m., until when nominations could be received.

Licensed port workers renominated Mr Saliba to continue leading the MDU as its president.

Mr Saliba thanked the workers for their support and said that as no one wanted to take on the role of President, he was willing to accept the responsibility of the post. He thanked all the port workers for their support and promised to continue working in their interest and that of their families.
