Women candidates let down by their kind

What irks me is one very relevant fact - not one woman was elected. Now if Labour had a group of feeble and ninny-like candidates who contested the elections, that I understand, but sure as I am that nougat is a sweetmeat of sugar and nuts, I am even more positive that women like Sharon Ellul Bonici, Marlene Mizzi, Maria Camilleri and Claudette Abela Baldacchino possess more than the average IQ, which ought to have gotten at least one of them elected as an MEP.
Whatever happened to promoting women in politics? Whatever happened to all that talk about women being sympathetic towards other women? Whatever happened to the shrieks of "I'll vote for women because they can understand family and social matters more than any man can"?
Could it be that women find it difficult to vote for women because the green-eyed monster gets in the way or even more preposterous, could it be that women think that other women are not competent in the field of politics? Whatever happened to the wails of women who have a different body from that of a man but the brain is the same?
If women find that voting for women is contemptible, how on earth can we expect men to vote for the female species? My number one to number four votes included two women. Are there many women who can state the same?
