I agree with Mr. De Martino, speed cameras which are always placed in the same place together with signs notifying drivers they are approaching one is a total stupidity. These should be mobile, placed at random and with no signs telling you to decrease speed to avoid a fine. Then all drivers would drive carefully as they would never know if they are approaching one. Then these are all placed in roads where drivers are supposed to drive a little faster such as in by-passes, our local highways, these should be placed in roads like Strada Rjali, Hamrun and in a couple of months the country's financial hole would be quickly filled up by money deriving from its fines.

Speed cameras won't avoid accidents. Drivers slow down in front of speed cameras so there's no use to have them... they're waste of money... better invest money in better roads!!!!

Speed cameras will never have any effect unless they are moved around and hidden. What sense does it make to slow down when approaching a camera and then overspeed once again.

Why not Mr. GiovDeMartino?
Unless I am completely mistaken, I thought that speed cameras were installed as a means to deter drivers from overspeeding. Therefore this gadget ultimately serves the same purpose; it warns drivers to slow down so as to avoid being charged for a rather costly photo/souvenir. On the other hand, if the speed cams were installed to serve primarily as a money machine then I can understand why some people aren't so excited ;)

The authorities install speed cameras to control overspeeding. We have just received a leaflet inviting us to buy a gadget which warns drivers of an approaching speed camera.
