International betting company Betfair yesterday donated €25,000 to charity organisation Lifecycle, which has supported the Renal Unit at Mater Dei Hospital for several years. Lifecycle will be raising funds through a voluntary cycling journey around the Mediterranean basin. This morning, three experienced cyclists will begin a trial of the journey before the actual event later this year.

The above captioned report is incorrect as the cyclists will not be cycling in the Mediterranean basin but will be cycling from the Bospherous Bridge in Istanbul Turkey and will finish off in Damascus in Syria, a ride of over 2000km - a far cry from the Mediterranean basin. During yesterday's presentation Lifecycle Organisation presented equipment bought through funds raised in last year's challenge to the Parliamentary Secretary for Health Hon Dr Joe Cassar.
