Lotto offices may yet increase
There are currently 216 lotto offices in Malta and Gozo, but it is up to the operator, Maltco, to decide whether or not to increase outlets within the limitation of not less than 150 but not more than 250.
Answering a parliamentary question by Ċensu Galea (PN), Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said that until the privatisation of lotto in February 2004, there had been 184 lotto offices.
As to whether there was any particular policy governing the game of lotto, Minister Fenech said the Lotteries and Gaming Act gave priority to the security of the player, who was free to decide on how much to spend so long as things were done justly and legally.

Are the authorities in hibernation?
Why is the number of lotto offices being allowed to increase?
Do the authorities know about the ever-increasing number of families who are in trouble due to playing lotto and the increasing number of games since lotto was privatized?
