Tribute to artist

'Olaug Vethal: Drawings and Prints' opened last week at the National Museum of Fine Arts, Valletta, and simultaneously in Ustira, Norway.

Vethal came to Malta in 1988, after having spent most of her student and adult life in Hamburg, Germany, and decided to stay here permanently and use Malta and its people as the subjects of her work.

Vethal passed away in 2007. In February 2008, a retrospective exhibition was organised in her name at the St James Centre of Creativity, Valletta.

This was followed by a similar exhibition in Oslo, Norway, last January. 'Olaug Vethal : Drawings and Prints' is the third major exhibition following the artist's death.

The exhibition is being held in the Contemporary Hall at the National Museum of Fine Arts, South Street, Valletta, until July 14 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information, call 2131 6708/9984 4653, or e-mail artitudegallerymalta@hotmail.com.
