The GWU has denied claims by the Malta Dockers Union that it is no longer seeking trade union recognition at Malta Freeport.

The claim was made at an MDU general meeting earlier this week.

The GWU said it would continue working both locally and abroad until the will of the workers freely expressed in a secret vote was recognised.

The GWU said it was a pity that the MDU leadership feared a secret vote.

It said it had also informed the Director of Industrial Relations that there were false signatures on resignation notices sent to it.

The GWU said it was still awaiting an official account on the management of the port workers' fund.
