Opel ecoFLEX range scoops environmental award
Opel's advanced range of green technology engines has picked up a coveted award from leading fleet title Fleet World.
The accolade was granted to Opel for its commitment in providing fleets with the choice of a range of environmentally-friendly options - the ecoFLEX vehicles, which includes the Opel Insignia - 2009 European Car of the Year.
Opel offers a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) that removes all traces of soot from the exhaust gases. If inhaled, these tiny particulates (soot) are very dangerous to health.
Fleet World editor Ken Rogers commented: "With its ecoFLEX range, Opel has committed to reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in cars with conventional internal combustion engines:
It achieves this through clever technological and aerodynamic innovation. The aim is, quite simply, to make highly efficient vehicles available at affordable prices."
The greenest car Opel has ever made, the new Opel Corsa ecoFLEX 1.3CDTi, has cut its carbon emissions by over 10 per cent to 105g per km and is capable of returning 70.6mpg.
EcoFLEX models can now also be found in Corsa, Astra and Zafira ranges, with the Insignia being the latest to join the line-up. Their combined CO2 emissions range from 105g/km to 137g/km and mean that Opel now boasts a total of 366 model variants with less CO2 emissions than 160g/km.
Opel models, including the Insignia, may be viewed at the United Automobile Limited Showroom located in Abate Rigord Street, Ta' Xbiex.
