Canoeists all over the world will be heading over to their clubs, paddle in hand, to mark World Canoeing Day on Sunday.

This day marks a special occasion for all canoeists, whatever their discipline may be, as they all unite to promote the sport they love as well as keep our waters clean.

Locally, the Malta Canoe Federation will be organising a fun race day at the Birgu Waterfront.

The three events on the day will include a 5k race and 200m and 500m sprints.

Briefing and registration will be held at 9 a.m. near the Cospicua Regatta Club, with races starting at 10 a.m. These races are open to all levels of paddlers, whatever their discipline may be.

The next event on the MCF calendar is the Olympic Day Fun Paddle which is being held in conjunction with the MOC Olympic Day Run on June 21.

Registration will be open at 7.30 a.m. from near the McDonald's outlet in Buġibba. The route will be similar to the run which will follow the coastline.
