Man threatens daughter

The father of an eight-year-old girl was yesterday fined €400 after breaching a bail condition by going to the matrimonial home and threatening her.

The man, who is not being named to protect the daughter, went to the house after being ordered to keep away by another court in February.

He told his daughter that if he did not sleep in the house again he would destroy it.

Police Inspector Arthur Mercieca explained the events which led to the arrest of the man, who at first pleaded not guilty but on the advice of his lawyer decided to change his plea.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano fined him after taking into consideration that this was a minor incident.

Lawyer Malcolm Mifsud appeared for the man.
