Maltese woman wanted over Surrey corpse
A foot was protruding from the bin - neighbours
A Maltese woman is wanted by British police in connection with the gruesome discovery of a woman's body dumped in a wheelie bin in Surrey on Saturday.
Lilia Fenech, 23, and her German lover Peter Wallner, 33, are being sought after the badly decomposed body was found outside their house in Hamilton Avenue, Cobham.
Surrey police said they believe the couple fled across the English Channel three weeks ago in a hired Volkswagen van with the registration number RV58 YDX.
The Times of London reported that Mr Wallner told neighbours before he disappeared that he had lost his job as a hotel chef and was going to look for work in Malta.
The couple have been caught twice on automatic number plate recognition cameras, first in Kent and then in Dover, the police said.
"Mr Wallner is known to have bought two tickets for a cross channel ferry that evening. The couple may also have three dogs with them, two Jack Russells and a Staffordshire bull terrier."
The body of a white woman in her 30s was discovered after neighbours reported seeing a foot protruding from the bin, which was not taken away because collectors had refused to do so because it was too heavy.
An autopsy found the woman had suffered a serious head injury but it could not determine the exact cause of death. Inquiries are continuing to determine her identity, which is difficult because of the body's advanced state of decomposition.
Mr Wallner's wife has not been seen for a year. Surrey police said Ms Fenech is about five feet seven inches tall with dark hair and dark eyes. She could be wearing glasses.
Mr Wallner is heavily built with broad shoulders, roughly six feet tall with slightly receding short brown hair and brown eyes.
A photograph of the couple was issued and the police are working with foreign forces to try and discover their whereabouts.
