David Casa and Roberta Metsola Tedesco Triccas were the big gainers from the transferable votes of Nationalist candidate Alan Deidun as European Parliament elections vote counting continued this morning. But well over 400 of the PN candidate's votes also went to other parties.

David Casa, who is expected to be elected, inherited 2,515, pushing his total number of votes to 28,045, still well short of the 41,362 quota.

Metsola Tedesco Triccas, who needs to inherit as many votes as she can to retain slim hopes of winning the third seat for the PN, won 1,875 votes and her total is now 13,484.

Most other votes went to the other PN candidates, but 225 votes were inherited by Arnold Cassola and 203 by the PL.

Labour candidate Sharon Ellul Bonici, who achieved over 6,000 first count votes, is now about to be eliminated.
