Air Malta yesterday requested the industrial tribunal to hear its case against the Union of Cabin Crew as a matter of urgency after the union issued directives to its members to reduce in-flight services.
Air Malta said these actions, which came into effect last Monday, were harming the airline's reputation and creating unnecessary inconvenience for passengers.
In its application to the industrial tribunal, Air Malta said it has presented the UCC with a reasonable offer that compared well to both local and international standards while taking into account the circumstances of the company.
The airline also said that before the industrial action, both entities had reached an agreement on a significant number of clauses except those related to the financial package.
The airline has called on the industrial tribunal to declare that Air Malta's offer is acceptable, to instruct both parties to sign the agreement as per the airline's offer and to order the UCC to stop its industrial action.
