In his feature on Sa Maison Garden, Denis Darmanin (The Sunday Times, May 31) states that an (Army Ordnance Department) "metal army badge (is) missing from this garden". Sa Maison Garden falls under the responsibility of the Environmental Landscapes Consortium.

We are sure that Mr Darmanin and your readers would be glad to know that after a blatant and failed attempt by unknown third parties some years back to steal the metal badge (which is very heavy), it was decided to move it for safekeeping to the ELC mustering room in Floriana and subsequently to the ELC stores at Wied Inċita, Attard, where it is still safely kept today.

We have no difficulty whatsoever to hold the badge for safekeeping until the relevant authorities decide what action to take on the matter.
