A few weeks ago, my wife and I took a cruise on Diamond Princess to South East Asia and Japan. Whoever has travelled with the Princess Group knows that they possess a fantastic picture gallery of 19th century paintings, depicting schooners and harbours, all along the promenade deck, starting from the atrium right down to the theatre at the stern.
I was thrilled when I recognised St Angelo in one of the hanging pictures. The artist, Andrew Nicholl, named this work of art Shipping Off The Coast Of Malta, The Harbour At Valletta. Unfortunately it is undated. This collection belongs to the P & 0 Steam Navigation Co.
Perhaps one can enlighten me about this artist, Andrew Nicholl.
