Stick to the law, lie or cheat

Given the legally-permissible national spending limit of €18,200 for European Parliament electioneering expenses per candidate, the total outgoings of €14,300 promptly submitted by Alternattiva Demokratika to The Sunday Times not only substantively corroborates the Green party's credentials as a clean, transparent and accountable political party but attests to the integrity and consistent credibility of its MEP candidates, Arnold Cassola and Yvonne Arqueros Ebejer.

Their conduct constitutes a stark contrast to the secretive stance of many other MEP candidates, irredeemably compromised by the sleazy immorality of having to contemplate the following prospect, as outlined in The Times (June 2) under the heading MEP Candidates' Expenses: No Account Before Election: "Legally, these (overspending) candidates will be left with two options when the campaign is over: Either take a false oath or make a false declaration of expenses".
