The police followed a 26-year-old party-goer to Paradise Bay and caught him with 85 ecstasy pills, a court heard yesterday.

Accompanied by his parents, Alan Tabone yesterday pleaded not guilty to possessing the drug in circumstances which show it was not for his exclusive use.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg said they had followed Mr Tabone and stopped him just as he was about to attend the Love Sexy party at Paradise Bay last Sunday.

Magistrate Miriam Hayman asked if the accused had sought help to kick his drug habit and the prosecution informed her that he was once addicted but had recently managed to stay clean.

The court granted him bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000 and a deposit of €1,000.

Police Inspector Victor Aquilina also prosecuted.

Lawyer Victor Scerri appeared for the accused.
