Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi told Parliament that the National Sustainable Development Strategy was currently being update.

Answering a question by Labour MP Leo Brincat that recommendations made by the commission which had drawn up the report had been accepted but the most effective way of how this strategy for sustainable development could be implemented was being considered. The commission's role had been to formulate this strategy for the government's consideration.

It was now the ministries' responsibility to implement it while the Office of the Prime Minister would be monitoring it.

The commission did not meet in 2007 and last year and met three times in 2006.
