Matthew Asciak crashed out of the men's tennis singles tournament of the Small Nations Games this morning after the Malta champion was beaten by Iceland's Arnar Sigurdsson 6-3 6-3 in the first round of the GSSE competition.

The Malta champion was broken twice in the first set, in the sixth and ninth games, forcing just one break back.

In the second set, the match went to serve until the sixth game when Gudmunsson profited from a poor service game from the Maltese in the seventh game to chalk up the decisive break that earned him the win.
