This year I was posted as an invigilator at Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School, Naxxar, and I noted that the new block at the school is excellent.

The lecture rooms, besides being spacious, are well decorated and have all the amenities that are needed in a modern society, such as video, TV/monitor and a computer for each lecturer. A telephony network is in place in all lecture rooms to enable the head of school to communicate at any given time with his staff and vice versa. Last but not least, the furniture is second to none.

Lifts for all levels are available and CCTV cameras are installed in all corridors.

While this should be a model for all our future state schools, one simple and inexpensive item is lacking: a clock. A clock in each lecture room is essential to keep uniformity in time all around the block and it is very important during the various exams which are held from time to time there.

Finally I would like to express my satisfaction to the head of school, to all the staff and students for the upkeep of this new block.
