Ministry probe into leak of exam answers

Investigations have been launched into allegations that an IT teacher gave his students the answers to an exam at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology.

The Education Ministry said preliminary investigations carried out by an internal auditor pointed to the fact that the students' answers closely resembled those prepared for lecturers as a guide.

It said that when the director of the institute concerned questioned the lecturer, he said he had distributed the answers by mistake and withdrew them shortly afterwards.

However, the students gave a different version. They said the teacher had deliberately distributed the answers, according to the Labour party online portal Maltastar.com, which broke the story.

The news portal even reported on Wednesday that the lecturer had "boasted to frustrated colleagues of being untouchable" after he was found out.
