Dott. Cassola you said on Friday that you are not a protest party and not even 48 hours after you urge people to vote AD to send government a message - well this is my message to you - We are not idiots, we won't vote AD because as i have been stressing you have changed this campaign into a whirlwind of contradictions.
By the way what is your message regarding gay rights? immigration? divorce? abortion? the core green issues? I don't believe you have any answer do you?

The immigration issue is just one issue that the MEPs are dealing with. There are others, less obvious, but equally important issues which they should focus on to make sure Malta gets the best deal out of the EU. Frankly I think that the PN are doing their utmost about the immigration problem. The EU needs to be convinced to listen to Malta's proposals. I'm afraid that voting for the PL will elect candidates who just want to attack the government (in other words, Malta) from the EU. Labour candidates had the worst track record in the EU in the last five years... so that they could argue better that the EU did nothing for Malta, when what was needed was that THEY do something so that the EU takes notice of that little speck of island down there beneath mighty Italy?!? That's a way to win the argument that we would have been better outside the EU. Get my meaning?

Voting AN or even PL would be a good message. Voting AD or PN will send the wrong message, a message that illegal immigration is OK in Malta.

Give us a break Arnold! I hope people who want to send a message to the government will vote for the rightist parties. That will surely be a sharp message that the people are concerned about losing their sovereignty.

This is really insulting our intelligence. This is not a Primary classrom, we are dealing with elections on a European level and on Saturday we will be voting for those MEPS who already showed credibilty in European Parliament or those new ones who are promising. AD is not amongst them. So voting for AD as a protest to the Goverment is ludicrious.

Prof Cassola, it's about time you realise this is not a local election but an EU election. Local elections are used to send a message to the govt.

This is an election in which we should choose the best people to represent our country's interest in Europe. You seem not to be one of them.

Vote AD and get PL

Remember what happened in 2004, 23000 voted AD but AD still did not manage to elect an MEP. The result was a wastage of 23000 votes in favour of MLP/PL, the party which is the least to deserve to represent our country in the EU due to its and its party's strong opposition to the EU.

And even if Arnold Cassola is a very worthy candidate, isn't Simon Busuttil another very worthy candidate?

Can any of the Pl , AD and even the AN candidates and their leaders answer how THEY will help us in Malta if they are elected next Saturday? I dare them to come clean now and say just what they plan to do from Brussels. Will they be working with the Government to improve OUR standard of living and quality of life after the 6th June? I am certain Joe Muscat is more interested in his ability to spin than in his responsibility as a serious Opposition leader....Arnold has been telling us to give him a chance (no doubt to earn a fat salary in Brussels after the 6th June) and Josie Muscat is trying to play it safe...this is about working with the DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED MALTESE GOVERNMENT for the next five years not with relelecting a new Government....I do not beleive any of these political parties have the intention of working WITH the Government but to work against it and the interests of Malta and Gozo..go ahead, i dare you...prove me wrong NOW Joe, Josie and Arnold!

i do not think we need to give the Government a message, i have always felt that we have been living in a democratic state for the last 22 years where everyone voices their opinion freely (as they certainly do on this site); rest assured YOUR voice is heard - the Government has listened in the past - Xaghra il-Hamra is one clear example and the investment in renewable energy and, by the way, the review in energy bills by MRA..on the othert hand you may also remember that we had a short lived government who went ahead with VAT removal, addeed tax on prescriptions and increased tarriffs...did we ever hear of any reviews then? There you have it...Bhaz-zokk il-Fergha...that good Doctor Spin is a real chip of the old block...would you trust any of his people with OUR Future? On the other hand, Arnold has been moaning about the same thing for years without really proving any point....except that he is just a transitory blip!!! We have seen his political career in Italy....would you trust HIM in Europe?

Yes, Arnold, vote AD to send a message to the gov, and in the meantime make sure our voice in the EU is represented by people who like travelling by aeroplanes (see insiter's interview with the MEPs wannabes on their website to see what I mean)... but then these people are not so effective at making sure that Malta's interests are adressed at the mighty EU parliment.

I get sick of hearing about ways of how to punish the current gov, just for the sake of doing it. What are we, children? Playing and betting on who wins the most seats in a game of musical chairs?!? For goddness sake, this is Malta's future we're talking about here, not a game of ping pong! I find Prof Cassola's words highly irresponsable, and pathetic at least, as if he's ready to lick our toes just to get our vote. NO THANKS AD!

I agree with Arnold Cassola. To all those that are not planning to vote, go out and vote for the Labour Party, AD or other small parties. I bet that after the election result Gonzi will come out and say "well, OUR (as if you're HIS property) supporters did not go to vote so obviously we lost this one". Give him a message: "We are NOT YOUR supporters and will vote AGAINST your party".

Is that enough of a reason? Is this the "alternattiva" that he is proposing?
Its one thing to urge voters to vote for you on the strength of your proposals and its another to tell them to vote for you just by riding on the wave of others' mediocrity!!
